Job Description

EMEA Recruitment is seeking a Global Category Manager IT for our services-related client with offices near Baden, Switzerland.

In this strategic role, you will assist in managing the strategic procurement of all IT hardware and software globally and support other indirect categories when required.

Key responsibilities as Global Category Manager IT include:

  • Assist senior internal stakeholders at a country, regional and global level to ensure all user needs are met and the business can benefit from efficient and advanced software and hardware solutions
  • Lead and develop a team of Sourcing Managers, showcasing genuine people development and leadership capability
  • Implement and strategize the IT Category area to deliver best-in-class solutions for the business
  • Build and maintain a resilient IT supplier portfolio showcasing compliance and innovation
  • Lead complex negotiations in areas such as SaaS, Cloud, Cybersecurity and infrastructure projects
  • Manage IT contract management and work with internal partners to deliver upon Procurement/savings objectives


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Procurement or Category Manager to expand their horizons and strategically manage the IT spend, whilst leading and developing a team of Sourcing Managers.

Suitable applicants must have a proven track record in managing direct reports and owning the IT spend category within a Procurement department.

We are looking for a high-calibre candidate with the following skillset and experience:

  • Educated to degree or equivalent level
  • Confident in dealing with large IT providers – especially software suppliers
  • Ideally, 8+ years of experience within Indirect Procurement (with IT Sourcing a must) at a strategic level
  • Experience in dealing directly with suppliers – confident in sourcing, negotiating and managing supplier delivery
  • Excellent communicator and able to positively engage multi-national teams, internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • High level of PC literacy and familiarity with digital Procurement tools
  • Fluent English is essential - other languages are beneficial
